Immigrant Orientation
Video installation, 13 minutes 41 seconds, 2025
A training film for The Unrequited Love Institute, an organization that claims to help immigrants integrate. Styled like a low-budget corporate orientation video, it uses lectures, testimonials, and product-style interruptions to lay out a system that frames compliance as care. As the video repeats, its tone shifts from helpful to unsettling, revealing how institutional language can normalize erasure, control, and emotional regulation. The video functions as both an introduction to the The Unrequited Love Institute project and a standalone work about bureaucracy, assimilation, and belonging.
Made in collaboration with Amy Chou, Josh Belveal, Luu Dagda, CJ Mascarelli, David Lorello, Goolam Saber, Shachi Kale, Madeline Sayet, Po-Min Wang and June Jung.
